S P O schema:description	P O NFDI4Culture Task Areas "Standards, Data Quality, Curation" and "Cultural Research Data Academy" as well as the Documentation Section of the German Museums Association cordially invite you to the workshop Setting the course for more quality: structuring object-related information, using controlled vocabularies on June 30th 2023, 9 am – 1 pm (CET). The event will be held online in German language. Participation is free of charge. Already during the conception of a data model for a collection documentation system, during its configuration or during the creation of internal documentation guidelines, it is possible to set the course for more quality and subsequent good reusability of the data. Many use cases involve a largely automated integration of ingested data and therefore depend on standardised structures, whether you are creating an audio guide or publishing your data as Linked Open Data. What are the best ways to support the long-term reusability and interoperability of the data? The workshop will show how to do basic data modelling using an entity-relationship model and taking community standards into accountl, and will give advice on the mapping, specificity and completeness of the documented information, as well as on how to deal with controlled vocabulary. Core field catalogues are a great help in prioritising data curation activities. The provision of interoperable data is a cross-institutional task – therefore the workshop will also present how associations and networks can support and unburden data curators through central services. Programme: - Good information structuring as a basis for interoperable metadata (A. Kailus) - From object description to LIDO structure (mapping exercise) - Terminologies: Using standard data and controlled vocabularies, dealing with local extensions (A. Kailus) - Structuring object information for publication in the German Digital Library portal: Mandatory elements and possibilities for extension (C. Marchini) - Profiting from a network: Sharing central collection-related concepts and services (L. Städing) - Open discussion The event is primarily aimed at digital managers or digital curators for cultural heritage collections and related projects, as well as persons involved in process management, the development of digital collection strategies, data publication and consulting in these areas.
