Vratabandha (initiation) in the Ram temple of Battis Putali, Deopatan: At the eastern side of the sacrificial enclosure (maṇḍapa) eight water vessels (aṣṭakalaśa) are arranged in a row. The oil lamp (dīpa, dīyo) is placed near the eastern post of the maṇḍapa and is covered with a leaf plate (ṭaparī) to prevent that it extinguishes during the ritual.
